Ball point pen on the morning newsprint Beloved baritone broadcaster Harry Kalas, voice of the Phillies and NFL Films passed away on Monday. Kalas called Phillie games for nearly four decades joining the team in 1971. He was awarded the prestigious Baseball Hall of Fame's Ford C. Frick Award for his contributions to the game. Kalas was also the voice of NFL Films starting as a narrator in 1975, he did the voiceover for "Inside the NFL" from 1977 and became its primary voice following the passing of John Facenda in 1984. His voice was the sound track to many of sports most memorable moments. It seems fitting that his life should end in the broadcast booth. He was 73. Hear a Kalas call here and here ...
