Ball point pen on todays newsprint

Single issue voters have always stuck in my craw. Agreeing with them on one issue gives pols license to do whatever the eff they want without consequence.

I always liked former New York City mayor Ed Koch's take on single issue voters. he'd say "If you agree with me on 9 out of 12 issues, you should vote for me, If you agree with me on 12 out of 12 issues, you should see a psychiatrist."

Jimmy McMillan is the ultimate one issue candidate and he's not afraid to where it on his sleeve. He's running for Governor of New York and has formed The Rent Is Too Damn High Party.

I don't know if you remember, Salim Ejaz? He was running under the "Rent is Too Damn High" for City Comptroller. He wasn't over the top like McMillan but I really appreciated that he was passionately speaking from the heart. After a while I tend to get tired of the rhetoric coming from polished politicians. There's a cool mash-up of Pixar's Up and "Rent is Too Damn High" on YouTube.

No, I wasn't familiar with Salim, VEe! and I agree about the polished pols. I think I was using Mr. McMillan to make another point. Maybe that wasn't fair to him. The biggest violators of single issue voters are the evangelicals who forgive a whole host of atrocities in the name of their one issue.
