Our government is just getting around to prosecuting some of the institutions that schemed to defraud government-backed mortgage agencies by churning out billions in bad loans, leaving taxpayers on the hook, triggering a world wide banking crisis, destroying the housing market and generally F-ing up the global economy.

It would appear that Canada, all of Europe, Mexico and sub Saharan Africa have either fallen off the earth or become new states. Some things untouched.
I recall a great draftsman, artist and professor of mine telling of a courtroom reportage gig he once had of a high profile case. He showed up the first day and drew the defendant dressed in his courtroom best, handsome and polished.... Innocent until proven guilty.
As the facts of the case presented themselves his perception of the defendant changed. and so too did his drawings.
Until, like a sinister twist on the idiom, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, the drawings became as monstrous and twisted as the defendant's soul.
