Damn The Torpedoes

Ball point pen on todays newsprint

Despite the shellacking house dems took in the midterm elections, Pelosi wants to stand her ground and fight for the leadership within her party.

I admire her refusal to put her finger in the air, but I predict in the days and weeks ahead she will put her party ahead of principle and step aside rather than become a liability.

Fair and Balanced?

Ball point pen on todays newsprint

The news biz has gotten more and more opinionated of late, with Fox News leaning right and MSNBC, left. I have to believe that it was a conscious decision on the part of the executives to tailor their content towards a certain ideology. So how hypocritical for them now to feign surprise that Kieth Olbermann contributed to democratic campaigns?

The Morning After

Ball point pen on todays newsprint

The mid-term election was a bitter pill for the President.

The Fed

Ball point pen on todays newsprint

One day after so many were tossed out of office for over-spending, Ben and the Fed printed $600 billion and gave it to the banks.

The hope is that it will trickle down to the consumer, but being that consumers are unwilling to borrow and congress was unwilling to get the banks out of the investment biz, look for the banks to go gambling with the windfall.

Heads they win, tails we loose.

Single Issue Voters

Ball point pen on todays newsprint

Single issue voters have always stuck in my craw. Agreeing with them on one issue gives pols license to do whatever the eff they want without consequence.

I always liked former New York City mayor Ed Koch’s take on single issue voters. he’d say “If you agree with me on 9 out of 12 issues, you should vote for me, If you agree with me on 12 out of 12 issues, you should see a psychiatrist.”

Jimmy McMillan is the ultimate one issue candidate and he’s not afraid to where it on his sleeve. He’s running for Governor of New York and has formed The Rent Is Too Damn High Party.

Roy Halladay

The Phillies took the opening game of the national league division series on the strength of Roy Hallaway’s right arm. Halladay pitched the second no-hitter in post season history, coming within one batter of a perfect game by allowing one base on balls. Don Larsen was the only other pitcher to accomplish the great feat when he threw a perfect game in the 5th game of the 1956 World Series.
