Square foot for square foot, there is no place on earth I find more inspiring than the Metropolitan Museum of Art. That sentiment, shared by so many, is in no small part due to it’s charismatic director from 1967 to 1977 Thomas Hoving, who passed away on Thursday from lung cancer. He was 78.
