The thing that’s so frustrating about party politics is that the desire to have a majority, leads to an “end justifying the means” approach to legislating. Ideology aside, I’m glad to see him go. Don’t let the door hit you on the way out.

Chris Dodd will undergo surgery for prostate cancer. The 65 year old Senator from Connecticut vowed to continue his campaign for a sixth term in the US Senate.

In spite of the deep financial crisis within AIG last year, they still managed to pony up $103,100 in campaign cash to the Chair of the Senate Banking Committee, Chris Dodd and 101,332 to then Senator Obama…… Now, who changed the language in the original bailout bill that would have prohibited taxpayers money from going towards bonuses? Answer: Chris Dodd’s staff after talking to Obama’s Treasury department…hmmm

Everyone is in agreement that in order for our financial system to work we need to restore confidence. What started as a sub-prime mortgage meltdown has turned into a crisis of confidence. Enter Chris Dodd, as chair of the senate’s Banking Committee, it has been his job to oversee the banking industry and it’s regulators. But after he admitted to accepting two sweetheart loans from Countrywide shouldn’t he step down as chair of the Banking Committee? Do we have confidence in him to oversee these hearings structuring a deal to instill confidence?
