Shellee Hale

Ball point pen on the morning newsprint

As bloggers and twitterers become increasingly popular, many have warned about unregulated content in the web 2.0 world. Now a case against a Pacific Northwest blogger in the New Jersey courts might test the boundaries of free speech on the internet.
Shellee Hale maintains four blogs and has been writing about internet safety for five years. According to court papers, she also has a private investigator’s license. When Hale posted on a message board frequented by those in the pornography biz, that a New Jersey web firm had a security breach giving hackers access to names and addresses of account holders, the company took legal action. While they admitted there was a security breach, they say that no customer information was leaked and they’re suing for slander. Hale is now seeking protection as a journalist from disclosing her sources.
Stay tuned bloggers.

Wise move Dan. I wouldn’t be surprised if there was litigation already in the works for some of the comments you’ve posted here.

I’m just glad we don’t have to worry about that on thurs nights, I’d really be in trouble.
