Ball point pen on the morning newsprint

It’s Hard to break through all the political chatter to figure out the ramifications of President Obama’s meeting with the President/Dictator of Venezuela. in the short term Chavez certainly has the most to gain and will milk every drop of propaganda out of shaking the hand of a US President. Will civility and graciousness pay any long term dividends? too soon to tell.

    I always thought Chavez was one of the most interesting heads of state. Most Chavez reports coming out of the U.S. are really biased. While I don’t think he’s an angel, can we say that about anyone in power, he’s a different kind of leader.
    Cool depiction.

    Wouldn’t it be crazy if Chavez, or any other President or Premiere was on Twitter, Facebook or even blogged?

    I agree, he is different. Chavez is officially “elected” but what does it mean? After the assembly passed an “Enabling Law” in November 2000, Chavez approved 49 laws by decree. The opposition had so little faith in the system that they boycotted the elections and have no representation in the National Assembly. 100 percent of the Assembly now supports Cavez which recently passed another law allowing him to approve laws by decree. So officially it’s a democracy that empowered him to act as a dictator.

    But since this blog is supposed to be about the drawing, Thanks VEe!

    Can’t be sure if Obama ever saw my blog, (propbably not) but his campaign did and asked me to do this drawing. If they did blog it would have off the chart traffic…they could sell add space to offset the national debt.

    Chavez is a character perfect for lampooning and caricatures, but hey, we had G. W. Bush and Cheney. His election in 2004 left many people feeling sour about the system.

    Hey, I for one think it is great that artists are informed and passionate about politics, economics, sports, etc. It definitely shows in your work!
