Three beats, a pause, then two more beats. That was the trademark Bo Diddley beat that Bo used in his self titled song, and as the foundation for so many of his hits. He influenced a generation of artists including Buddy Holly, U2 and George Thorogood, who covered and introduced a new audience to his song “Who Do You Love”. Bo received a life time Grammy Award and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He was 79.

    Great loss to the music world. Glad you listed George Thorogood, a lot of the news coverage missed that.

    Not being alive in 1955 when Bo broke onto the scene, I can’t claim to have been an early fan. As a teen I was introduced to the blues through white artists like Stevie Ray Vaughan, Eric Clapton, The Rolling Stones, Led Zepplin, Aerosmith and George Thorogood who covered Bo’s Who Do You Love.
    I’ve since become a big fan of the Blues and the originators of Rock and Roll.

    BTW…What does the R and B stand for anymore in R&B music?…There doesn’t seem to be any Rhythm or Blues?
