What a beautiful and touching post Marie. I'm so sorry for the loss of your dear friend. I was paid to make an inspirational work, so while I'm glad to know that I achieved that goal, and feel honored that it comforted you in some way, no matter how small, I couldn't accept any credit for it not having the privilege of knowing your friend. I'm going to contact you off line and do what I can to get a print to you and your friends wife.

Best,
Larry

Hi Larry,

Congradulations on the CA acceptance!

I recently lost a dear friend who LOVED doing crossword puzzles every Sunday morning. I was lucky to spend a few of those Sundays at his elbow, amazed by his breath of knowledge. And now I'm amazed by your talent and comforted by the grace of this painting. I do hope you will offer Giclee prints of this painting for sale--I'm sure my friend's wife will also be comforted and moved by this lovely work: it captures so much of his struggle with cancer. The sunrise speaks of the spirit of hope we all need, and the abandoned pages and cup a reminder of how short our time is together. Yet there is peace and lightness...a complex work...beautiful.

Thanks Bill. That means a lot to me, because you're not just a friend and fellow illustrator, but a great painter. Thanks for the kind words.

Hey Larry,

You've captured the "Ring of Truth" in that painting, I admire your humility but as a friend and fellow illustrator, I'll be crossing my fingers that you win the CA prize!

Caio!

Thanks Maisie, but there's no need for any further luck. By being accepted I've already won.
Best,
